Instant Pot Steamed Vegetables: Easy Side Dish

Instant Pot steamed vegetables make an easy and nourishing side dish.

The Instant Pot is a very popular kitchen tool! It is one of my must-have kitchen tools that makes cooking meals at home easier.

I use my Instant Pot multiple times a week. My top uses include making broth and steaming vegetables.

Steamed veggies make a great dish for just about any meal.

This method is great because you just pop the veggies in the instant pot, turn it on, and walk away until you hear the beep. So convenient for when the main dish requires more of your attention!

Plus, the veggies turn out perfectly…meaning even the pickiest of eaters will like them.

The importance of including vegetables in the diet

Vegetables are packed with nutrients! Additionally, they are delicious and add wonderful color and texture to a meal.

Vegetables are a good source of vitamins and minerals. They provide fiber to help support healthy gut flora.

They are also a fantastic source of phytonutrients that increase antioxidants, have anti-inflammatory effects, and much more within the body.

Each veggie offers its own specific type of nutrients. So for overall health, it is important to include a variety of vegetables in your diet.

I recommend that you purchase local produce…or grow your own. Local is freshest and will have the highest amount of nutrients.

If local is not an option for you then buy organic. If you have a budget, prioritize buying organic for the EWG’s Dirty Dozen.

Food pairings

Grass-fed butter is the perfect pairing for steamed veggies! The fat in the butter helps the body to process some of the vitamins.

If you need to avoid dairy, olive oil or ghee are great too. You can learn how to make your own ghee in this post.

Steamed broccoli and carrots go great with my Asian Chicken Thighs or Spicy Cheeseburger Sloppy Joe.

How to meal prep Instant Pot steamed vegetable

Meal prep for Instant Pot steamed vegetables is pretty simple.

When you get home, wash the veggies. I wash mine by adding a cup of apple cider vinegar and 10 drops of lemon essential oil to a sinkful of cool water and let them soak for roughly ten minutes. Then rinse and air dry.

Once washed, peel if needed and cut into the desired size. Store in a glass container with a lid or zip-top bag until you need them.
